Nature is magic.
We have somehow been disenchanted with nature as human beings. We see amazing and beautiful things and have ceased to be amazed. Isn’t it amazing that a speck of seed in dirt, when watered and exposed to sunlight, turns into a huge complex organism? Isn’t it amazing that some animals able to see more colors than the human eye or see infrared heat? When did these natural processes stop reaching our hearts? Why, when experiencing a storm bending trees low, flooding waterways, lighting up the sky and sending powerful vibrations for miles do we not feel changed in some way? Lightening in the sky removes pollutants in the air, rain cleanses allergens from the air and washes the earth. Rain brings relief to a dry landscape. It can do these things for a person as well. Re-connecting to nature helps people heal.
In modern times, science teaches us that the animals that adapt and a have traits that work for the environment, survive. If this is the case, why is nature beautiful? Sure, beauty is a survival trait… we are less likely to kill a beautiful plant of animal… But why is beauty part of this ecosystem? Why does nature reference itself across animal kingdoms?
WHY…
There are many why’s and how’s that hint that there may be more to life than meets the eye. There are many natural processes that relate to the human emotional/spiritual experience. There seems to be an intelligent design connecting through species and across continents. Here are some “Why” questions to start you thinking:
*Why do some animals and plants look like other things?
*Why do many flowers look like sexual organs?
*Why do some breeds of spiders have what resembles faces on their backs?
*Why do some butterflies have eyes on their wings?
*Why are foods color-coded for nutritional value and resemble the parts of the body they benefit?
*Why do cultures that have never interacted with each other have similar inventions, medicines, social values and structures and ideas about the divine?
In modern times we are realizing that to go within is to go outward and to go outward is to go within. They are similar processes, much like a tree’s roots are like their branches. By empathetically interacting with other humans and the natural world, we are given personal meaning. Through self-examination and personal experience, we arrive at a place of “oneness.” Science, especially quantum physics, is discovering that we are interconnected energetic beings within a greater energetic matrix.
Christianity tells us that we were cast out of The Garden of Eden…. and most people feel that way. Regardless of whether we were raised in a loving family, everyone living on earth suffers emotionally and physically. We are in bodies that must kill and consume other life in order to survive. We are subjected to extremes of weather, natural disasters and pandemics. We suffer painful diseases and age. If this was a garden- we feel cast out and abandoned by our Gods and/or Goddesses, angels and other helping spiritual entities. We feel like we are here on earth, but don’t belong. So, we have created artificial habitats for ourselves. We have separated and protected ourselves from nature with housing structures, roadways, television, unnatural foods etcetera. We dominate nature by taking more than what we need and dumping our garbage. We feel little connection to other species. Some people don’t even feel connection with other humans, using the differences of culture, race, gender, religion and politics to divide and de-humanize. Biodiversity and variety are meant to be a gift, not feared.
We have reached a point in our development as humans, where we need to reconcile the masculine/ feminine, life/ death, predator/ prey and individuality/ community in ourselves, in nature and our spiritualities. We are becoming aware that we live in a multiverse, not a universe. There are many possible paths and realities available to experience.
Our personal problems and dramas, are also happening on a bigger level, seen in worldwide conflict. By healing ourselves and living our truth we are creating change. Quiet your mind and realign your thoughts. Re calibrate your heart toward goodness and truth. Re-acquaint your body and instincts with what is natural.
Once we become more comfortable in our bodies, and living this life on earth, we can explore the spiritual energies that help humanity. Humans have had spiritual experiences throughout history and developed religions to share insights with their cultures. In this section we will explore beneficial spiritual insights, practices and spiritual cosmologies. More important than any other survival need, are feeling connected and loved to people, places and things outside ourselves and deriving some deep meaning in life.
