Are deeply held beliefs that influence how we interpret the world
- State a negative core self-belief
- Explain why you feel that way. Talk about your life.
*The group relates to the person with personal stories. They then tell the person evidence against the negative core belief. Tell the person positive things about themselves. Discuss different ways to frame this experience. Consider about how you feel about a situation may not be rational. In this exercise the group helps the person to look at their life with detachment and think about how they may be perceiving reality through an inaccurate core belief. They will then help the person to have a more compassionate and hopeful orientation.
